If you are tracking politics in Tamil Nadu then you will not be surprised on several political formulae revolving around Vijayakanth. ADMK, DMK, PMK, BJP, Makkal Nala Kootani all eyeing for Vijayakanth to be ally of their party.
DMDK easily the third largest party in Tamil Nadu, Vijayakanth is considered lucky by most of the political parties. The chance of winning increases if Vijayakanth allies with any party. Vijayakanth when he started his political career, other parties shaded him to be drunk always and not fit for politics. But this image slowly evaded in 10 years and his dare to talk against ruling party and Jayalalitha has only garnered lot of support for him in social media. The videos where he dared ADMK on their non-doings went viral in social media.
In Kanchipuram maanadu on Feb 20, Premalatha Vijayakanth has called him to be a King or King Maker. Both the titles are very much appropriate for Vijayakanth consider the timing. ADMK alone cannot win this election because of people displeasure during floods, AMMA propoganda, Visionless governance & too much of freebies. OPS spending 30 minutes in Assembly to praise Jayalalitha before starting Financial statement shows a simple example of overdosed AMMA propoganda, which people of Tamil Nadu has already lost patience with. The importance of Assembly that caters to 7 crore Tamilians in Tamil Nadu is simply lost here. And there is not a single interview by Jayalalitha to media shows inaccessibility and lacks transparency on issues. Also the case against Jayalalitha on unaccounted wealth accumulation stands negative for the party at the moment. So ADMK alone cannot win this 2016 elections and they defenetly need a dark horse Vijayakanth to win the elections. On the other side DMK lost their credibility in 2G scam which is a tall reason for their drastic failure in last state elections in Tamil Nadu. But DMK is slowly overcoming the earlier negative image by having Stalin leading from the front with strategic Namakku Namey move. Surely DMK has risen from its previous losses but they too are in need of dark horse Vijayakanth to confirm the victory. Other parties like BJP, PMK, Makkal Nala Kootani are in the hunt for Vijayakanth.
So its very clear the favorites for Vijayakanth both in public side and other party side has gone high. Vijayakanth who undoubtedly wanted to be CM of Tamil Nadu sees this as right timing to demand the same. If he wants to be CM then he will join BJP, PMK or Makkal Nala Kootani. If he wants to be king maker then he will join DMK. Vijayakanth joining ADMK is mostly ruled out and it is clear from his speech in Kanchipuram maanadu. I am sure Vijayakanth will be closely evaluating as King (CM) of Tamil Nadu, because otherwise his party also will become like PMK, who has never reached the throne. PMK earlier used to be third biggest party has never grown as they never attempted to try for CM post in elections. PMK has realised that mistake so late and now trying it out with Anbumani using fresh propoganda Maatram Munnetram. I am sure Vijayakanth will not repeat the mistake done by PMK.
